Privacy Policy
- Aureole has no account, login, sign-up, ads, analytics or tracking tools.
- We do not collect data that identifies you. Everything you set up (folders, favorites, wallpaper, settings) stays only on your device.
- The app has no backend server of its own and does not send your app list, photos or settings to us or to third parties.
- The only information the app sends off the device is technical crash reports, sent through Google’s Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes. They do not contain your name, email, contacts, location, photos or the list of installed apps.
01General information
Aureole Launcher (“Aureole”, “the app”) is an Android launcher: it replaces your device’s home screen and organizes your apps, folders, favorites and widgets. This policy explains, in a complete and verifiable way, what information the app accesses, where it is kept and what leaves your device. It applies to the app distributed on Google Play and was written in accordance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Lei nº 13.709/2018 — LGPD).
Aureole is developed and maintained by Teu Apps (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for the app. Contact: aureole@mnascimentos.dev.
02Data we do not collect
Aureole does not collect, store on servers or share:
- Name, email, phone number, national ID or any identification data;
- Logins or credentials for any service;
- Location (the app does not request location permission);
- Contacts, calendar, SMS, calls, camera or microphone (none of these permissions are requested);
- The list of installed apps or your usage history;
- Photos or files on the device, including the image you choose as your wallpaper;
- Advertising ID: the app shows no ads and does not use this identifier;
- Browsing data, searches typed into the launcher search bar or widget content.
03Data stored only on your device
To work as a home screen, Aureole keeps some information locally, in the app’s private storage on Android. Other apps cannot access this storage, and none of this data is sent to us.
| Data | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| List of installed apps (package name, display name and launch activity) | Showing and opening your apps in the app drawer, folders and search. It works as a local cache, refreshed when an app is installed, updated or removed. |
| Folders, favorites, panels and grid positions | Keeping your home screen layout between sessions. |
| Launcher preferences and settings | Remembering the theme, grid size, effects and other settings you chose. |
| Copy of the chosen wallpaper image | Applying and restoring your custom wallpaper. The image is picked with the Android photo picker, so the app can only access the photo you select. |
| IDs of the widgets you added | Showing the widgets you chose on the home screen. |
You can delete all of this data at any time in Android Settings › Apps › Aureole Launcher › Storage › Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
04Permissions used
Each requested permission has a specific launcher purpose. None of them is used to send data off the device.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGESsee all installed apps | This is the core function of a launcher: listing every app so you can open and organize it. The list is used only on the device and is never transmitted. |
REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGESrequest uninstall | Opens Android’s own uninstall screen when you choose “Uninstall” on an app. Removal always requires your confirmation in the system dialog. |
SET_WALLPAPERset wallpaper | Applies the wallpaper you chose in the launcher settings. |
BIND_APPWIDGEThost widgets | Shows widgets from other apps that you add to the home screen. |
INTERNET andACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Not declared by Aureole itself: Android adds them automatically because they are required by the Google libraries used for crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics) and in-app updates (Google Play In-App Updates). Aureole does not use the internet for anything else. |
To choose a wallpaper, Aureole uses the Android photo picker, which requires no gallery permission: the app only receives the image you select.
05Third-party services
Aureole uses only two Google services, both to keep the app stable and up to date. Neither is used for advertising or to build user profiles.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — crash reports
When the app crashes or records a technical error, Crashlytics sends a report so we can fix the problem. The report contains technical information such as:
- The technical error trace (stack trace) and technical event logs from the app;
- Device model and manufacturer, Android version, Aureole version, screen orientation, free memory and storage, and whether the device is rooted;
- Date and time of the crash;
- A random Crashlytics installation identifier, which is not linked to your identity, Google account or advertising ID, and changes when the app is reinstalled or its data is cleared.
Reports do not contain your name, email, contacts, location, photos, the list of installed apps or the content of your screen. Google processes this data as a processor under the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and the Firebase documentation (firebase.google.com/support/privacy), and keeps it only for the period Google defines for Crashlytics.
Google Play In-App Updates (Google LLC) — updates
Checks with the Google Play app on your device whether a newer version of Aureole is available and lets you update without leaving the launcher. This communication happens between your device and Google Play, under Google’s terms and privacy policy. Aureole receives no personal data in this process.
06Android backup
Aureole allows Android’s automatic backup. If you turned on backup for your Google account, the system itself may include the launcher settings (folders, favorites, settings and custom wallpaper) in your device backup and restore them when you switch phones. This backup is made by Android and stored in your Google account, encrypted by Google. We have no access to it. You can turn it off in Android Settings › Google › Backup.
07Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell, rent or share personal data. The only data the app sends off the device is the technical crash reports described above, handled by Google as the processor of the Firebase Crashlytics service.
08Legal basis (LGPD)
Crash reports may contain a technical installation identifier, which the LGPD may treat as pseudonymized personal data. This processing is based on our legitimate interest (art. 7, IX) in keeping the app working, secure and free of errors. It is limited to the minimum necessary (art. 6, III) and not used for any other purpose. All other information described in this policy stays on your device and is not processed by us.
09Security
- Local data is kept in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s app isolation (sandbox).
- The app does not allow unencrypted network traffic (HTTP without TLS).
- The app’s code is checked on every release by automated tests and static analysis.
10Your rights
The LGPD grants you, among others, the rights to confirmation, access, correction, deletion and information about data sharing (art. 18). Because Aureole’s data stays on your device, you control it yourself:
- Access and correct: all information can be viewed and changed in the launcher itself;
- Delete: use “Clear data” in the Android settings or uninstall the app;
- Crash reports: for questions or requests about them, contact us at the address below.
11Children
Aureole is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from minors. Since the app does not collect data that identifies its users, anyone can use it without personal information being sent.
12Changes to this policy
If a future version starts handling data differently (for example, a new online service), this policy will be updated before that version is published, with the new date at the top. Relevant changes will also be announced on the app’s Google Play page.
